FAQ & Troubleshooting

Devices & requirements

Can my phone run MineSec Pay 7?

Yes, if the phone meets these requirements:

  • Android 10 or above
  • NFC supported and turned on
  • Google Play Services installed and Google Play Store accessible
  • Not rooted; system security intact
  • OS and security patches reasonably up to date

If the phone can open the Google Play Store and has NFC, it should work. The final result depends on the device check during app activation.

What is a hardware keystore? Do I need to set it up?

A hardware keystore is a secure area in the phone's chip that protects payment encryption keys from being copied or tampered with.

You do not need to configure anything. MineSec Pay 7 checks for hardware keystore support during activation. If the device does not meet the requirement, the app tells you; switch to a compatible device.

Does my phone need Google services?

No. MineSec Pay 7 works on devices with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and on devices without them (non-GMS).

If the device has Google services, install and update the app through the Google Play Store. If it does not, get the installation package through another channel; contact your service provider for details.

Can I use a rooted phone?

No. To keep payments secure, MineSec Pay 7 does not support rooted, jailbroken or otherwise compromised devices. Make sure the phone:

  • Has not been rooted or jailbroken
  • Has a locked bootloader
  • Has no debugging or hooking tools installed, such as Frida or Xposed

If the app detects a security risk on the device, it blocks login or transactions.

Do I need to update my phone's OS and security patches?

Yes. Outdated software or security patches can affect activation, login or transaction processing. Go to Settings → System Update or Security Update on the phone to install the latest version.

Can I use MineSec Pay 7 on an Android smart POS terminal?

Yes. MineSec Pay 7 supports selected Android smart POS terminals. Some brands and models need a specific adapted version.

Contact your service provider first to confirm your model is supported. MineSec can provide customized integration for special terminal requirements.

Which devices are compatible?

MineSec Pay 7 runs on commercial off-the-shelf Android devices that pass the security and payment acceptance checks. Minimum requirements:

  • OS: Android 10 or above
  • NFC: built-in NFC for contactless payments
  • Security: not rooted or tampered with; OS and security patches kept up to date
  • Network: stable Wi-Fi or mobile data for activation, authorization and security checks

Final availability depends on device model, region, acquirer requirements and the compatibility check at activation. If unsure, confirm with your service provider before deployment.

Can MineSec Pay 7 run on an unattended or kiosk device?

Yes. Kiosk Mode supports approved unattended and self-service scenarios such as kiosks, self-checkout, vending and ticketing.

MineSec Pay 7 integrates with the merchant's kiosk or POS app for a simplified, controlled payment flow, while still handling payment processing, card interaction and security checks. Availability depends on device model, integration, acquirer requirements and merchant configuration; contact your service provider or MineSec representative to confirm.

Payments

Which payment cards and methods are supported?

MineSec Pay 7 supports the major contactless card schemes and mobile wallets, including Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, AMEX, JCB, Diners, Discover, PURE, CPACE, MyDebit, NAPAS and EFTPOS.

It also supports Merchant QR and Consumer QR payments. The networks and methods available to you depend on your service provider, acquirer and merchant configuration.

Is an internet connection required?

Yes. MineSec Pay 7 needs a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection for activation, login, transaction authorization, security checks and configuration sync.

⚠️

MineSec Pay 7 does not support offline transactions. Check the connection before accepting payments.

How is the transaction currency set?

Currency is not configured on the device. It comes from the Acquirer Profile linked to the merchant's payment configuration: Acquirer Profile (currency) → Merchant Payment Config → Activation Code → the device inherits the currency.

  1. Create or check the Acquirer Profile. In the TMS Portal, go to Acquirer Profile, click + Create or open an existing profile, choose the Currency in Profile Config, fill in the required technical fields (for example Base URL, Message Format) and click Save.
  2. Link the profile to the merchant. Go to Merchant, select the merchant, open the Payment Config tab, click + Create (or edit an entry), choose the Payment Method and Acquirer Profile, and click Save.
  3. Generate a code and activate the device. Under the merchant, open Activation Code, click + Create, then enter or scan the code in the app. The activated device uses the configured currency.
⚠️

Each Acquirer Profile supports one active currency at a time. To use another currency, update the currency in the existing profile or create a separate profile.

What is the difference between a void and a refund?
  • Void cancels an approved transaction before settlement, usually before the daily batch closes. The customer is not charged. See Void.
  • Refund returns money after settlement. It is linked to the original transaction and can be full or partial, depending on merchant settings. See Refund.
Can a payment be triggered by accident?

Contactless payment only works when the card or phone is held a few centimeters from the SoftPOS device, so paying by accident while walking past is almost impossible.

Security & accounts

Is MineSec Pay 7 safe? Does it store card data?

MineSec Pay 7 uses PCI MPoC (Mobile Payments on COTS) certified security components to turn a compatible Android device into a secure contactless terminal. It does not store customers' sensitive card data.

  • Full card numbers (PAN), track data, CVV/CVC and PINs are never saved on the merchant's phone or in the app.
  • Sensitive payment data is encrypted inside the secure payment SDK before it is sent for authorization.
  • PIN entry is converted into an encrypted PIN block; the app never sees or stores the raw PIN.
  • Receipts and history show only masked data: last 4 card digits, amount, time and result.
  • The app checks device security. A rooted, tampered or failing device may have payment functions blocked.
What if my device is lost or stolen?

Contact your service provider or administrator immediately so the terminal can be deactivated in the TMS Portal. Once deactivated, the device can no longer accept payments under your merchant account.

The device holds no sensitive card data or PINs, so customer credentials stay protected. Activate MineSec Pay 7 on a replacement device with a new activation code from your administrator or service provider.

My activation code has expired or is lost. What now?
  1. Self-service: on the login screen, tap Contact support here and enter your registered email. A new code is sent to that inbox.
  2. Ask your administrator: your service provider or administrator generates a new code in the TMS Portal and sends it to you.
Can I use one account on multiple devices?

Yes, depending on your merchant setup. An activation code can be active on only one terminal at a time. To move a code to another device, first log out or deactivate the current terminal, then activate the new device with that code.

Confirm with your service provider or administrator how many devices your account supports.

Can settings be configured remotely?

Yes. Your service provider or administrator can manage supported terminal settings remotely through the TMS Portal, so merchants do not configure each device by hand.

Remote configuration covers settings such as payment methods, acquirer profile, transaction limits, receipt options, language or theme, kiosk content and other merchant-level parameters, depending on your deployment.

The app picks up changes automatically or when you tap Refresh App in Settings. Some changes need an app restart or terminal reactivation.

Can I add my business logo to receipts?

Yes. Receipt content and branding can include business name, address, contact details, logo and other information, depending on merchant configuration.

Your service provider or administrator sets this in the TMS Portal. Refresh or restart the app afterwards to apply the new receipt settings.

How do I change the app language?
  1. Tap Settings on the bottom navigation bar or the homepage.
  2. Under Language & Theme, tap the current language.
  3. Select a language from the list.
  4. The app returns to Settings with the new language applied.

Menus, labels and system text update immediately. No restart is needed.
